Tenderness/Pain in Armpits

Are tender/painful lymph nodes in armpits a part of ARS only or would it continue for months after initial infection? I have these random 'tender' feelings that happen frequently throughout the day (esp when im fixated on worrying about HIV).  I have tenderness and pain in my groin as well, but I recently acquired HSV-2 from an ex who cheated (hence my fear of HIV).

I am hoping that all these strange things are due to the Herpes and/or anxiety. I did my bloodwork for HIV on thursday (at 9 weeks past exposure) and am awaiting my results. I managed to calm the anxiety for a while, but now that I've finally done the test and am waiting for results, I find myself even MORE anxious and obsessed w/ symptoms than I was in the beginning of this mess.

How long after possible "ARS" ended would lymph nodes continue to be swollen?

"I know I have to get off the internet and just await my results in peace"

BINGO!!!!!!

Anxiety is wicked.  It will cause very real physical symptoms.

The best thing you can do is shut your pc off and keep yourself busy until your results are in.

Nothing you describe sounds like ARS symptoms anyway.  Most people who are newly infected either have no symptoms...or have very CLEAR symptoms that tend to be quite significant.  TRUE ARS almost ALWAYS involves a high fever (over 101F), and the time line is usually pretty consistent.

I know, thank you for helping. I know I have to get off the internet and just await my results in peace, but it's proving harder than expected. I had the bloodwork done on thursday so I'll get them either this week or next.

read the last part of this sentence that you wrote.  ANXIETY ! ! ! ! !

if you are worried that you have been exposed...the only way to know is by testing...NOT by symptoms.  see your doctor if you "think" you have swollen lymph nodes...we cannot diagnose you over the internet.  it has been my experience that MOST ppl who think they have swollen nodes...do not once they see their doctor.

when people say they aren't painful when due to hiv, does that mean painful to touch? b/c mine are more just 'noticeable discomfort' than real pain and not painful to touch, just strange sensation in the armpit that happens A LOT throughout the day, very similar to the feeling I have in my groin, which my doc said was due to the recurring HSV-2 outbreak.

swollen lymph nodes due to early infection are NOT a random tender feeling.

Anxiety seems to be the key here
